The Foundry guides us all year long. It is our pillar of refinement and resolve — a way of shaping what we make, how we live, and what we carry forward.

Historically, a foundry is where raw material is transformed into something lasting. At Topo Pino, that idea has always lived close to the table.

In the early days of the Summer School of Cookery, women gathered on this land to work with simple ingredients — flour, water, time. They learned not only recipes, but the quiet discipline of shaping dough by hand. It was an exercise in patience and attention: knowing when to press, when to rest, and when something was ready to become more than it was before.

That practice — shaping with care — is at the heart of The Foundry.

Refinement Over Replacement

Today, The Foundry represents a way of choosing with intention: refining rather than replacing, editing rather than adding, and building thoughtfully toward the seasons ahead.

This past year marked important beginnings for Topo Pino — refining our candles, introducing paper goods, and planting our first garden through the Bloomery. Each of these experiences now passes through the Foundry, helping shape what comes next with care and purpose.

The Foundry is not only part of our work. It’s a framework we share.

As the year continues, we’ll share moments from each of Topo Pino’s pillars: recipes and kitchen traditions inspired by our cooking-school heritage, the Bloomery as it prepares for another season of growth, the Hearthery as a steady presence through winter, and the Foundry as a guide throughout the year.
